Water Tour

On September 6, El Consejo Federal de Inversiones, The Center for Inquiry Argentina (CFI), headed by its president Ignacio Lamothe, along with other functionaries from the 23 provinces of Argentina, visited the Netherlands. The program was organized by the Netherlands Water Partnership. My office coordinated a 'water tour' in the city of Rotterdam, where I showed the visitors a few urban resilient projects in which water is the common thread.

workshop Nature based Solutions

On August 31st, in the framework of collaboration between the Netherlands and Argentina, the NWP (Netherlands Water Partnership) and the Consejo Federal de Inversiones /CFI Argentina , organized an online workshop on Nature-based Solutions. The participants from the Argentine provinces were divided into work-topics. Together with Begoña Arellano Jaimerena from the Dutch company Deltares, we coordinated the “Participatory Process: methods, tools and application cases” table. My partner Adrian Puentes coordinated the NbS table at a regional level. This was a very interesting workshop for sharing our experiences!

EU Support for Promoting Sustainable Urban Mobility in Turkish Cities project.

A few days ago we had the opportunity to give a presentation to the Turkish Delegation during their Study Visit within the framework of the EU Support for Promoting Sustainable Urban Mobility in Turkish Cities project.

Meeting with the Ministry of Finance of Bangladesh

Wonderful boat ride in Amsterdam with a team coming from the Ministry of Finance of Bangladesh. We were talking about climate adaptation projects in the Netherlands and our experience abroad and the importance of the long term vision, nature based solutions and smart water management.

ThinkBike Workshop Pristina

On October 4th and 5th 2022, Ton Kooymans (owner of the Dutch Bike Parking Academy) and Adrian Puentes (partner of Beccan Davila + Puentes) and Nout Ramaekers (Program Manager at DCE) visited Pristina. The workshop focused on two main subjects: an implementation plan for a bike sharing system in Pristina, and a vision for a cycling-friendly Pristina. It was a very succesful result and we are looking forward for the follow up. 

Webinar-workshop "El Río Trail" Florida, USA

Last week we had the opportunity to give a webinar-workshop in one of the three sessions together with Sjors van Duren for the FDOT Statewide Non-Motorized Traffic Monitoring Program (Florida State, US).

The goal was to discuss the meaning of Bicycle (Infrastructure) Comfort and how to create a multidimensional system and culture that is inclusive, comfortable and encourages cycling for all at el Río Trail, FL.

Resilient street Calzada de la Republica

Yesterday, March 1st, I presented the resilient street project Calzada de la República, Mexico. This was part of the introduction to third-year students of the Water Management course, a follow-up of the course “Climatic Street”, at the Hoogeschool Rotterdam, The Netherlands. I was Invited by teacher Dirkjan Douma. This webinar aimed at inspiring students with a clear example executed from practice. My best wishes and all of success to them!

Climate Change, the water Challenge: Río de los Perros Alive

The Faculty of Architecture, Art and Design of the Tecnológico de Monterrey-Puebla, Mexico, invited me to carry out a design workshop. For 5 days, my online workshop will focus on visualizing river recovery strategies as well as protecting cities against floods, strengthening the economy and improving the quality of life in the Istmo region in the state of Oaxaca.

This workshop, part of the Climate Change seminar, is coordinated by Mikaël David Waterdrinker and Marta Núñez, lecturers at TEC.

Design workshop "Zarate and the Delta footprint"

Together with PLAAN platform, the Latin American Architects Association, with establishment in the Netherlands, we carried out a design workshop with focus on the project “Zarate and the Delta footprint", in Argentina. This workshop is part of the participatory process of stakeholders, both in Argentina and in the Netherlands, where the methodology of "Building with Nature" is a fundamental point.

Integral rescue Atoyac and Salado Rivers, Oaxaca

With the aim of contributing in knowledge and the integral rescue of the Atoyac and Salado Rivers, I met with the general director of CONAGUA-Oaxaca, ing. Julio López Hernández and his technical staff.

International Seminar on Water Territories

I was invited to give a lecture at the “International Seminar on Water Territories”, in Buenos Aires, Argentina. The seminar is organized by the Di Tella Foundation and Delta Alliance Argentina, and with the support of the Embassy of the Kingdom of the Netherlands.

“Adaptive Strategies for Water Heritage, Past, Present and Future”

The book “Adaptive Strategies for Water Heritage, Past, Present and Future”, Editorial Springer has just been published. The book includes our academic article “Studying Ancient Water Management in Monte Albán, Mexico, to Solve Water Issues, Improve Urban Living, and Protect Heritage in the Present”, developed by me and the doctor in archeology Araceli Rojas.

Today we present our winning project "Avenida Verde, Monte Alban" at the workshop organized by the Ministry of Agrarian, Territorial and Urban Development, SEDATU, and the Inter-American Bank of Development, BID.
